Higher Education Inquiry
Higher Education Inquiry (HEI) is an online, fully open-access journal run by a group of international scholars in higher education and English language teaching and learning. We would like to use this double-blind, peer-reviewed journal as a useful and exciting platform for established and emerging researchers, early-career academics, students, education policymakers, and teachers to publish their recent work.
The intellectual identity of HEI primarily lies in the word “inquiry.” HEI focuses on:
Inquiry as knowledge generation
HEI aims to receive original research works that produce new knowledge in higher education, rather than reporting experiences or describing educational phenomena. It primarily asks what new knowledge a manuscript can produce.
Inquiry as critical examination
HEI emphasizes critical analysis, critical literature reviews, critical perspectives, critical reflection, and critical evaluation of policies and practices. It asks what theoretical assumptions, policies, practices, theories, or trends are being critically interrogated and examined.
Inquiry as international relevance and impact
HEI does not prioritize local case studies without shedding light on international relevance and impact. It urges authors to address the question of why scholars and educational practitioners outside the study’s context care about the findings.
Scopes
HEI welcomes submissions that center on:
